On Wednesday, Chargé d’affaires of the U.S. Mission to the African Union (USAU), Ambasador Susan D. Page hosted an event to recognize the first cohort of Africa CDC Epidemiologists. U.S. CDC is supporting nine Epidemiologists from AU Member States to staff the Africa CDC. The AU, U.S., China, and other partners are collaborating to provide joint training to ensure that this team has the skills they need to monitor and respond to disease outbreaks on the continent. Attendees at the event included the U.S. and Chinese Missions to the African Union as well as representatives of the African Union Commission Directorate of Social Affairs.
