Statement of Chairperson Against Recent Terrorist Bomb Attacks in Algeria

The Chairperson of the AU Commission, Alpha Oumar Konare, has expressed his outrage and horror at the recent suicide bomb attacks in Algeria that have killed many innocent people. He strongly condemns these senseless criminal acts, and reaffirms Africa’s unequivocal commitment to put an end to terrorism.
The AU has consistently voiced its total rejection of terrorism, and has repeatedly called for coordinated efforts to address this scourge.
The Chairperson expresses his solidarity, and that of the African peoples, with the people and government of Algeria, and with the recent stand of ordinary Algerians, who have come out onto the streets to express their total rejection of and revulsion against the outrages perpetrated by the terrorists.
