AFRICOM Outreach 2009

On May 11 – 15, the African Union (AU) held its Third Ordinary Meeting of the African Ministers of Defense and Security on the Establishment of the African Standby Force (ASF) and the Military Staff Committee (MSC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 

Military experts prepared their reports on May 11 – 13; those reports were presented to Chiefs of Defense and Security on May 14, and approved by the Ministers on May 15.  On the margins of this meeting AU partners were invited to display literature on security cooperation activities that support the African Peace and Security Architecture.  The European Union, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) provided information on their respective programs.
